
We are a governmental agency that is responsible for administering social services, creating and implementing various governmental social programs, projects, and policy.
The goal of our activity is to ensure successful integration of target social groups into society, help to protect their rights, decrease their separation from society, and to reduce domestic violence. We are also responsible for quality control.
History
1997 - The Care Institutions Provision Center established under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour to carry out functions of supervising and co-coordinating social care institutions.
1998 - following the order of the Minister of Social Security and Labour The Care Institutions Provision Center reorganized into the Department of Supervision and Audit of Social institutions under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour.
2006 - the Department reorganized into the Department of Supervision of Social Services. Following the common guidelines of the social policy of the Republic of Lithuania the Department now fulfills its clearly defined objectives and helps its founder, the Ministry of Social Security and Labour, to carry out its mission.
Mission
Effective and efficient integration of target social groups into society, protection of their rights, fighting poverty and social exclusion of individuals from social risk groups, assessment and control of the quality of social services.
Directions of activity
To accomplish the mission and to ensure social welfare of every individual the Department is working in three main directions:
- participation in implementing the state social policy;
- assessment, control and supervision of the provided social services at the state and local self-governance levels;
- drafting and implementing state social programmes, separate measures and projects aimed at target social groups.
